One of the worst problems with handling powdery materials is their tendency to arch/vault in silos . The powdery ingredient becomes tightly packed when the air is evacuated after the silo filling. In this case, the ingredient becomes poorly flowable, in which case the steady flow from the silo is completely blocked or weakened. Poor flow also prevents the so-called FIRST IN-FIRST OUT operation, which means that the raw material that comes in first is also the first to leave.
The “fluidity properties” of powdered ingredient can be restored by blowing air into the silo cone in a controlled manner. This is called FLUIDIZATION. It is not necessary to fluidize the entire powder silo, but a very small amount of air is sufficient for the purpose, when it is led to the right place and in the right amount.
For fine particle sized and poorly flowing powders, the fluidization method is the most common and the most effective solution in the market

The Powdea Fluidization bottom is made of a flange-mounted stainless steel cone that has a 60 degrees angle. The bottom flange is suitable for DN300 bottom valve or a rotary lock. Other sizes are available on request.
The fluidization equipment is controlled by a Sequences timer unit with which sets the air pulse and pause times for the fluidisation valves. Alternatively, the control can be implemented with the customer’s PLC system, in which case the fluidization valves are connected to the terminal box instead of the timer.
